Effects of Lead Poisoning Last a Lifetime
/The dangers of lead exposure in children are finally receiving much-needed attention, but the long-term damage is often devastating and irreversible.
As reported in The Washington Post, “A child who was poisoned with lead is seven times more likely to drop out of school and six times more likely to end up in the juvenile justice system,” said Ruth Ann Norton, the executive director of the Coalition to End Childhood Lead Poisoning.
It is a sad reality that despite awareness, significant steps still need to be made to completely eliminate lead exposure.
