The American Academy of Pediatrics recently discussed the dangerous risks children are facing with lead exposure and said, "lead rules provide only an illusion of safety."

As reported by NBC News, pediatric experts throughout the country found the amount of lead exposure children are facing to be astounding. A team at Quest Diagnostics found more than 3 percent of 5 million kids tested across the country had blood lead levels of more than five micrograms per deciliter of blood, with Cincinnati, Ohio having one of the highest levels among six regions.

More can and should be done to protect children and families from the irreversible effects of lead poisoning.
